In our Catholic tradition of prayer, we often seek the intercession of Mary – Mother of Jesus, Mother of the Church and Queen of Heaven. If you’re asking a friend and fellow disciple to pray for you, it’s hard to imagine anyone better for the job than Our Lady.

Just as she did at the Wedding Feast in Cana {John 2:1-11}, Mary sees our needs and whispers them lovingly to her Son. How can Our Lord refuse her? Even when the time to reveal his glory has not yet come…

This simple sung response is a reminder and a petition for Mary to join her prayer with ours, as we come before God’s throne of Grace. It can be sung as a call and response between cantor and assembly, or the assembly can be invited to sing the entire refrain.

Intercession Response:
With Mary we ask you: Lord hear our prayer.

Some ideas for using this piece:

1. As a sung response to the Prayer of the Faithful on Marian feast days or other Ocassions with a Marian focus.
2. Throughout May, the month of Mary; or October, the month of the Rosary.
3. As an acclamation after intentions are announced for each decade of the Rosary or other Marian prayer.
