ABBA Father – Alternative ABBA Song Lyrics for Walsingham Youth Pilgrimage 2015

Leading the music for the Anglican Youth Pilgrimage to Walsingham has been and annual highlight in our music ministry diary for about 15 years (we’ve literally lost count!)

ABBA Father - Alternative ABBA Lyrics

The liturgies are creative and joyful, prayerful and beautiful. And loud. It’s one of the few engagements where we wield the decibel enhancing power of a full six-piece band being pumped through a mighty PA stack! (Definitely not recommended for your average parish gathering.)

In recent years the pilgrimage themes have called for a different kind of musical creativity. In 2013, for “00Heaven” we reworked the words for several well-known James Bond movie themes. In 2014 for “Lord of All Time” – we found ourselves playing the Dr Who theme.

This year we explored the Lord’s Prayer under the theme “ABBA Father”. And yes, we tinkered with the lyrics of a few well-known ABBA songs.

Obviously, for copyright reasons we can’t supply full recordings of our very unofficial reworkings of these songs. But if you’d like to give them a try in your own setting you can access the lyrics and chords via the links below.

  1. Thanks for these – do you have a list of the music used for each service? I’m interested particularly in your Alleluia ’round’ responses and other liturgical bits.

  2. Hi Jo. Is there any chance in the future of bringing out the ABBA Father pieces of music in Piano Vocal Guitar.
    Many thanks.
