Mercy ~ New EP and CD-ROM for the Year of Mercy

To mark the Year of Mercy, our friends at Fisherman Music have released a special 7 track EP and accompanying CD-Rom resource for schools and parishes, featuring songs by Mike Stanley, Andy Ross and Yvonne Stanley.

Inspired by Pope Francis’ call to make this year of mercy a penitential journey that helps us to rediscover God’s mercy, the songs include a setting of the Act of Contrition and The Jesus Prayer. As well as a lively setting of psalm 50(51) Have Mercy On Me.

The collection also includes two previous unrecorded songs by Mike Stanley: May the Choirs of Angels is poignant Song of Commendation, inspired by the text of the funeral liturgy. One of the spiritual works of mercy that we are called to in this holy year, is to pray for the dead.

A Symphony of Worship  was originally written in 2008 inspired by that year’s theme for the Diocese of Plymouth Catechists’ Cell Group weekend. As Pope Francis reminds us – “the Church is the home of harmony”.

The accompanying CD-Rom will include printable sheet music, sign language videos and liturgy ideas which can be used throughout that year of mercy. An invaluable resource as we journey through this Holy Year of Mercy and rediscover God’s extravagant, unfailing, forgiving love for us all.
