Rejoice ‘n’ Sing Vol. 3 – Audio CD out now

Rejoice ‘n’ Sing Vol. 3 – Audio CD out now

Our work on the Rejoice and Sing volume 3 mass settings project is slowly drawing to a close.

It has truly been a labour of love these past few months – especially for Mike Stanley who’s been overseeing the project working from home while also being on long-term sick leave.

We are pleased to announce that the audio CD was released on 31 December 2011 and those who ordered in advance would have received their package of audio delight only in the New Year. The feedback we’ve received so far has been really very positive.

“[the CD] … was on the doormat when I arrived home from school
this evening – and is so beautiful – very moving and uplifting -
I can’t wait to get everyone working on a new setting!” ~ Jon

One of the exciting things about the recording is that it features the vocal talents of priests from our diocese – including our Archbishop Bernard Longley. For each mass setting one of the priests sings and/or speaks the part of the Presider, which helps the listener understand exactly how each setting works within the context of the Mass.

Work continues  on the Digital Songbook CD-ROM and we’re hoping that this will be available for release in the next few weeks. Meanwhile you can still place an ADVANCE ORDER and save £4 off post-release retail price.

Mass of St Bernadette – new translation

Mass of St Bernadette – new translation

A new Mass setting – Mass of St Bernadette – using the text as set in the revised translation of the Roman Missal, was written in 2009 especially for the Archdiocese of Birmingham’s annual pilgrimage to Lourdes. The pastoral theme that year was The Path of Bernadette, hence the title of the setting.

As has been the custom in recent years, the music for the pilgrimage liturgies was led by Jo Boyce, Mike Stanley and Andrew Ross from CJM MUSIC, alongside a team of able volunteers. This new setting proved extremely successful during that week of pilgrimage and has also proven popular in the training, INSET and workshop sessions we have done in the past year or so, helping schools and parishes prepare for the implementation of the new translation of the Mass.

It’s not officially published yet, but we’re working on it: It’s been approved through the Bishops’ Conference panel and will soon be released, along with 5 other new settings, in “Rejoice n Sing Volume 3 – Musical Settings for the Revised Mass Translation“.  Also available on CD.

Meanwhile, here’s a sneak preview so you can try it yourself and let us know how it goes. Email our office and we’ll send you a preview of the Music too, in PDF format.

Welcome Jesus – Advent Liturgy

Welcome Jesus – Advent Liturgy

This downlodable liturgy was originally devised for the HCPT Carol Service held at  Northampton’s Cathedral of Our Lady Immaculate & St Thomas of Canterbury in December 2009.  It is structured around the lighting of the five candles of the Advent Wreath, with a reading and song and sometimes a reflection or symbolic action at each of the five “stations”.

O Little Town – Free Music Download

O Little Town – Free Music Download

The Boyce & Stanley Christmas EP, Born in Bethlehem features a beautiful new tune for the familiar text O Little Town of Bethlehem.  We have been inundated with requests for music for this piece since its release.

A full piano arrangement has not been published yet, but in the spirit of the forthcoming season of goodwill, we thought we’d make a gift of the melody line and guitar chords, so you can start practising and perhaps use it in your Carol Services this year.

Hope you enjoy it…
